Crashing the Net is a romance story about a hockey player and a party crasher. The team has lost the game that would take them to the championship and then told they are being moved from Florida to Seattle. I mean, who wouldn’t be upset about this? Talk about a downer, going from sunny Florida to dreary Seattle is not good for anyone’s mental health. Not to mention that Cooper has bad memories of Seattle from his childhood that still haunt him.
Cooper meets Izzy at a party thrown by the team’s new owners. Izzy and her three sisters have been hired by the new team owners to crash the party. The girls’ job is to encourage and entice the somber players into enjoying the party. However, the team is loyal to their captain, Cooper, who has already told the team they will not give in to anything the new owners throw at them. A bit petty if you ask me.
Izzy pretends to be Cooper’s girlfriend to gain entrance into the party, however, Cooper has no interest in playing along. Cedric, Cooper’s best mate, plays along with Izzy’s ploy and convinces everyone that Cooper is just playing around. Izzy feels an unusual attraction to Cooper and will throw all her rules out the window to be with him. Unfortunately for Cooper, he can’t seem to keep his foot out of his mouth and accuses Lizzy of horrible things when he finds out she was hired to get him to participate in the party. 1st Breakup
Cooper, being a jealous neanderthal, barges into one of Lizzy’s parties and sees her with Tanner, Seattle’s quarterback, and goes into a fit. 2nd Breakup
Cooper arrives home to find a teenage boy standing on his porch. Cooper learns this boy is his nephew, who has been abandoned by Cooper’s druggie sister. Cooper has no clue what to do with this boy but will not let him live on the street. He calls his lawyer and hires a private investigator to find his sister. Then he calls Izzy begging for her help.
Izzy helps with Riley, Cooper’s nephew, by taking him shopping and getting her aunt to watch after Riley when Cooper is away. More twists and turns ensue as the story continues. I won’t ruin the rest for you. I enjoyed this book and recommend you read it.
